Bikinis

/bɪˈkiːniz/ noun

Two-piece women's swimsuits consisting of a bra-like top and brief bottom.

Named after Bikini Atoll in the Marshall Islands, where the U.S. conducted nuclear tests in 1946. French designer Louis Réard named his revolutionary two-piece swimsuit 'bikini' because he predicted it would have an 'explosive' effect on fashion, similar to the atomic bomb tests.
