Burning fiercely or shining intensely; extremely fast or intense.

From blaze + -ing, where 'blaze' comes from Middle English blase, possibly from Old Norse blys 'torch.' The figurative sense of 'very fast' (as in 'blazing speed') developed in the 19th century.
