Plural of bleeding; instances or acts of bleeding, or in medical history, the practice of draining blood as treatment.

From bleed (Old English blēdan) + -ing (gerund/noun suffix) + -s (plural). The medical practice of bloodletting was called 'bleeding' and was common from ancient times through the 19th century.
