Plural of blowtorch; portable devices that produce a hot flame using pressurized fuel, used for welding, cutting, or thawing.

Compound of 'blow' (to forcefully expel air or gas) and 'torch' (a source of flame). First coined in the late 19th century as portable flame tools became common in industrial work.
