Bobfloat

A buoyant device used in fishing that bobs on the water's surface and indicates when a fish is biting by moving downward.

From 'bob' (to float and move up and down) + 'float'; a common fishing apparatus with terminology that developed during the 19th century as recreational fishing became more sophisticated.
