A South African Cape Malay dish consisting of spiced minced meat baked with a custard topping, often flavored with turmeric and dried fruit.

From Malay 'bobotok' via Indonesian; brought to South Africa through Dutch East India Company trade routes in the 17th century, it became a cornerstone of Cape Malay cuisine.
