Bocconia

A genus of tropical American plants in the poppy family, with large glaucous leaves and small yellowish flowers.

Named in the 18th century after Paolo Boccone, an Italian botanist and monk who studied medicinal plants; the -ia suffix creates a Latinized genus name.
