Bombardment

Bombardment is a continuous attack with bombs, shells, or other weapons. It can also mean being hit with many questions or demands at once.

It comes from “bombard,” an old word for a kind of cannon, which itself comes from French “bombarde.” The “-ment” ending turns the action of bombarding into a noun.
