Bowwows

Plural of bowwow; representations of the sound a dog makes, or dogs themselves in informal speech.

From 'bowwow,' an onomatopoeia (sound imitation) of a dog's bark that entered English in the 1600s. The reduplication (repeating 'bow') mimics how children and people naturally imitate animal sounds.
