Braconidae

A large family of small parasitic wasps that lay their eggs in or on the bodies of other insects, commonly used for biological pest control.

From New Latin, based on the genus 'Bracon' with the Latin family suffix '-idae' (a standardized suffix for taxonomic families). Named formally in the 19th century during the expansion of systematic entomology.
