Burgundy

Burgundy is a deep red color with a hint of purple, similar to dark red wine. It is also the name of a wine-producing region in eastern France.

From French “Bourgogne,” the name of the region, from Medieval Latin “Burgundia,” land of the Burgundians, a Germanic tribe. The color name comes from the shade of red wine made there.
