Side whiskers or sideburns, named after American Civil War general Ambrose Burnside who wore them prominently.

Named after Union General Ambrose E. Burnside (1824-1881), whose distinctive facial hair style became fashionable in the mid-1800s and gave the name to this style of whiskers.
