A relatively rare yellowish to brownish iron aluminum phosphate mineral that commonly occurs as minute crystals in other rocks.
From Greek 'kakos' (bad) + 'xenos' (guest), with the mineralogical suffix '-ite'. This is the more common and properly named mineral related to cacoxene.
