A genus of burrowing shrimp found in marine environments, named for their graceful appearance and movement.

From Greek 'kallios' (more beautiful) and 'anassa' (queen), literally meaning 'beautiful queen.' Linnaeus and other taxonomists created scientific names that were often poetic descriptions of the organisms they named.
