Cappella

Music performed without instrumental accompaniment, usually meaning vocal singing only (as in 'a cappella').

From Italian 'a cappella' meaning 'in the chapel style,' from Latin 'capella' (chapel). Originally referred to the vocal style used in church choirs during the Renaissance.
