Carcake

A caked or compacted residue, especially the solid matter left after rendering animal fat or extracting oil from seeds.

From car- (uncertain origin, possibly from Old Norse) + cake. Alternatively, car- may relate to 'carcass.' Historical term from rendering and industrial processes.
