Cardioblast

A primitive embryonic cell that will develop into heart tissue; the earliest stage of heart cell formation.

From cardio- (Greek kardia, 'heart') + -blast (from Greek blastos, 'sprout' or 'germ'). The -blast suffix denotes formative or embryonic cells, as in fibroblast or osteoblast.
