Cassiope

A genus of small, creeping flowering plants in the heather family, native to cold regions of the Arctic and high mountains.

Named after Cassiopeia from Greek mythology, the vain queen punished by the gods. The genus was christened Cassiope in the 18th century by botanists referencing classical mythology.
