Cephalometer

An instrument used to measure the head and skull, particularly for standardized orthodontic and anthropometric measurements.

From Greek kephalē (head) + -meter (measure, measuring instrument). Developed in the early 20th century as orthodontics and anthropology required precise, repeatable measurements.
