Another term for a ceramicist; an artist or craftsperson who works with clay and ceramic materials.

From 'ceramic' (Greek 'keramos' meaning pottery) plus '-ist' (one who practices). This is a slightly shorter variant of 'ceramicist,' both emerging as pottery became recognized as a fine art.
