Ceratite

An extinct marine cephalopod mollusk from the Triassic period, related to ammonites, with a coiled shell featuring distinctive ribbed patterns.

From Greek κέρας (keras, horn) + -ite (fossil suffix). Named for the horn-like appearance of their shells and whorled structure.
