A genus of aquatic ferns with distinctive horn-shaped or ear-shaped leaves, commonly called water sprite or floating ferns.
From Greek 'keras' (horn) + 'pteris' (fern). Named descriptively for the horn-like lobes visible on the fronds of these water plants.
