Cerement

A burial shroud or cloth, especially one treated with wax; a winding sheet for wrapping a dead body.

From Old French ceremeent, from cere (wax, Latin cera) and -ment (suffix for objects or materials). This term has been used since medieval times for funeral wrappings.
