Cetiosaurus

A genus of large, long-necked marine reptiles from the Jurassic period that superficially resembled whales in body shape.

From Latin 'cetus' (whale) + Greek 'sauros' (lizard). A descriptive name based on the animal's whale-like appearance rather than direct evolutionary relationship.
