A rare type of plant reproduction where the pollen tube grows through the chalaza (the base of the ovule) instead of entering through the micropyle (the normal opening).

From Greek 'chalaza' (small granule) + 'gamos' (marriage, sexual reproduction). First described in botanical studies in the early 20th century.
