Chamois

A soft, velvety leather made from the skin of a chamois (a small goat-like animal), commonly used for polishing and cleaning.

From French 'chamois,' referring to a small wild goat found in Alpine regions. The leather takes its name from the animal it comes from, just as 'kid leather' comes from young goats.
