Checkman

A person whose job is to inspect or verify goods, especially in manufacturing, retail, or quality control.

Combination of 'check' (to verify) and 'man' (a person performing a specific role). This occupational noun emerged with industrialization when systematic inspection became necessary in factories and warehouses.
