Chegoe

A parasitic flea found in tropical regions that burrows into human skin, causing painful infections and known as a jigger or chigoe.

Variant spelling of 'chego,' from Spanish and West African language origins. Used in medical and colonial literature to describe the tropical disease caused by Tunga penetrans.
