Chesterfields

Plural of Chesterfield: a type of deep-buttoned upholstered sofa, or in some regions, a formal overcoat with a velvet collar.

Named after either the 4th Earl of Chesterfield or a London furniture manufacturer; the term became so associated with this distinctive furniture style that it's now used generically. The coat variant emerged later as a fashion item.
