Chladnite

A rare mineral, a silicate of zinc and manganese, named after the scientist who first observed acoustic vibration patterns in metal plates.

Named after Ernst Florens Friedrich Chladni, an 18th-century physicist. The mineral name follows the scientific convention of honoring scientists with -ite suffix used in mineralogy.
