Clocking

Measuring or recording time or speed, often using a clock or stopwatch; also can mean noticing or watching something.

From 'clock,' which comes from Middle Dutch 'clocke' (bell), since early clocks were bell-based. The verb developed in the 1700s as mechanical timekeeping became common.
