A coalition is a group of people, organizations, or countries that join together for a common purpose, often political. They may still have differences but work as one team on shared goals.
It comes from French “coalition,” from Latin “coalitus,” the past participle of “coalescere,” meaning “to grow together.” The Latin parts “co-” (together) and “alescere” (to grow) show the idea of separate parts forming one body.
