A type of small freshwater catfish popular in aquariums, also used as a given name.

Short for Corydoras, from Greek 'kory' (helmet) and 'doras' (skin), referring to the fish's armored appearance. As a name, it derives from Gaelic origins meaning 'from the hollow'.
