Decimal

Decimal relates to the number system based on ten, and often refers to numbers written with a point to show parts of a whole, like 3.14.

It comes from Medieval Latin “decimalis,” from Latin “decimus,” meaning “tenth,” from “decem,” “ten.” The decimal system is literally a “ten-based” system.
