Divisor

A divisor is a number that divides another number exactly, with no remainder. In a division problem like 12 ÷ 3, the number 3 is the divisor.

From Latin 'divisor' meaning 'one who divides', from 'dividere' meaning 'to divide'. It came into mathematical use to name the number doing the dividing.
