To publicly support or approve of someone or something. In finance, it can also mean to sign the back of a check to make it valid.

From Medieval Latin *indorsare* ('to write on the back'), from Latin *in* ('on') + *dorsum* ('back'). It originally meant literally writing your name on the back of a document.
