Enhancement

An improvement that makes something better, more attractive, or more valuable; the action of intensifying or increasing the quality of something.

From Old French enhaucier, meaning 'to raise up,' combining en- (in) and haut (high). The word evolved from the physical sense of raising something higher to the abstract sense of improving quality.
