Espelette

A mildly spicy French chile pepper from the Basque region, traditionally dried and ground into a sweet, fruity powder with AOC protection status.

Named after the Basque village of Espelette in southwestern France, where these peppers have been grown since the 16th century when they were introduced from the Americas by Basque sailors and traders.
