Favor

A kind or helpful act you do for someone, often without payment; it can also mean approval or preference for someone or something.

From Old French “faveur,” from Latin “favor” meaning “good will, kindness,” from “favere” meaning “to show kindness, be favorable.” It has long carried the idea of goodwill and preference.
