Footpath

A narrow way or track designed for people to walk on, often found in the countryside or as a pedestrian route in urban areas.

From foot + path (a way or track), combining Old English 'fōt' with path (from Old English 'pæth'). Footpaths are among humanity's oldest infrastructure, worn into existence by repeated walking.
