Freight is goods or cargo that are transported, especially by truck, train, ship, or plane. To freight something is to send it as cargo.

From Middle English “freight” and Middle Dutch “vrecht” meaning “load, cargo, or hire for transport.” It originally referred to both the goods and the payment for carrying them.
