Fulgurite

/ˈfʌlɡjʊraɪt/ noun

A tube of glassy rock formed when lightning strikes sand or soil, fusing the grains together; literally fossilized lightning.

From Latin 'fulgur' (lightning). When lightning hits sand at 30,000°C, it creates these hollow glass tubes — nature's own sculpture. Some are found several meters long.
