Furnace

A furnace is a large heating device that burns fuel to produce heat, often used to warm buildings or melt metals. It usually works by heating air or water and then spreading that heat through a system.

“Furnace” comes from Old French “fornais,” from Latin “fornax,” meaning “oven or kiln.” The Latin word is related to “fornus,” meaning “oven,” used for baking and heating.
