Either talking excessively about something, or feeling exhausted and out of breath; in slang, to be impressed or excited.

From 'gas' (from Greek 'chaos' meaning void), originally meaning to talk nonsense. Later developed British slang meanings of exhaustion and excitement in different contexts.
