Heterodoxy

/ˈhɛtərəˌdɑksi/ noun

Religious beliefs or opinions that deviate from established orthodox doctrine. Heterodox teachings are considered nonconformist but may not be condemned as harshly as outright heresy.

From Greek 'heteros' (other, different) and 'doxa' (opinion, belief), meaning 'different belief.' The term developed alongside 'orthodoxy' in early Christianity to describe teachings that were questionable but not necessarily heretical.
