Homage

/ˈhɒmɪdʒ/ or /oʊˈmɑːʒ/ noun

Homage is special respect or honor shown publicly to someone or something. In art and media, an homage can be a work that respectfully imitates or refers to another work.

From Old French “hommage,” originally meaning the formal ceremony in which a vassal declared himself the “man” (“homme”) of a lord. Over time it shifted from feudal loyalty to general honor and respect.
