Ignore

To ignore someone or something is to pay no attention to it, on purpose or by accident. It can mean choosing not to respond, notice, or care.

From Old French "ignorer," from Latin "ignorare" meaning "not to know, not to notice." It shifted from simply not knowing to actively not paying attention.
