Ignosticism

/ɪɡˈnɑstɪsɪzəm/ noun

The position that the question of God's existence is meaningless because the term 'God' is not sufficiently defined. Ignostics argue that before debating God's existence, we must first clearly define what we mean by 'God.'

Coined by rabbi Sherwin Wine in the 1960s from 'ignoramus' (we do not know) and 'agnosticism.' The position emphasizes the logical priority of definition over existence claims.
