A portfolio is a collection of work, such as drawings, designs, or projects, that shows a person’s skills and experience. In finance, it also means a group of investments owned by a person or organization.
From Italian *portafoglio*, from *portare* “to carry” and *foglio* “leaf, sheet,” originally meaning a case for carrying loose papers. It later came to mean the papers and then the whole collection they represent.
