Profound describes something very deep, intense, or meaningful, such as a strong emotion or a powerful idea.

From Latin *profundus* 'deep', from *pro-* 'forth' and *fundus* 'bottom'. It first referred to physical depth, like deep water, before shifting to emotional and intellectual depth.
